Malarka ‘Tempus Fugit’ exhibition, Sen Nocy Letniej, Warsaw, 2021

The Tempus Fugit series is a record of a journey inwards during the pandemic, a visual diary of all the moods in 2020 and 2021. The the experiences of isolation and feeling of loss became the key to interpreting the new normal. However, this process lead from confusion to clarity and readiness for change. The mere work with painting matter is a practice of mindfulness for the Artist. Looking at death in cultural references and through the prism of Her own associations allowed to see its positive aspects. After all, the rites of passage are an essential part of the life of individual or community. Similarly, when you look at the broader context. The cycle of dying, transformation and rebirth is fundamental at the meta level – for culture, nature, civilization.

Titling this series with a shortened latin sentence Tempus fugit becomes a reconciliation and acceptance of the passing time. In addition, it manifests a conscious distance from eternity promise. As a result, the works created there is an intention to look for beauty, something interesting, next / new. It is an affirmation of experiences coming from one’s own initiative, from an invitation to change, from going into the unknown.
